WOW love your game :):):):):):):)

A really unique concept :D

From an audio standpoint this is a 10/10 game. From a graphics standpoint it is an 11/10.

I liked the gameplay as well but if this game ever gets expanded I'd love to see more to the music playing than play or not play music with a minimal movement speed difference.

And I'd love to see the game expanded :)

(+2)

Thank you so much! I'm currently prototyping a new version of it with more interesting mechanics around the violin, maybe something along the lines of Fatal Frame. I'm also pushing the visuals as far as I can and you can see an example of that over on my Youtube channel:

Looks like the 25th anniversary remake ;)

(+1)

Yeah, I just hope it doesn't take me the next 24 years to finish XD

(+1)

I really enjoyed this! The music was great, the atmosphere was great...spooky and oddly soothing at the same time. Definitely a good experience, thank you for sharing this!

This Game be like:

But really, beautiful concept~

Ha! Pretty much sums it up XD

will there be a linux port soon?

Unfortunately not, it was just a short game made for a jam and I deleted the working files. Sorry about that.

Musique magnifique et concept original

l idee est tres bonne!

(+2)

This was a fun concept!  The music was beautiful, and I had a fun time walking around the spooky town summoning ghosts for the symphony.

(1 edit) (+2)

What a delightfully charming experience.  A somber, gothic setting on a stormy night accompanied by the dulcet tones of your violin as it plays a melancholy tune.

Such a fantastic and simple concept that I hope gets expanded upon in a future title.

Definitely going to check out other titles by this dev.

Atmospheric horror without jump scares combined with excellent music.  That was quite a lot of fun.  I love old-style graphics, but I have to say Restrung is my favorite version.  The lighting is just...right.  Also, love the rain.  Excellent job!

(+2)

such a cool game and concept

thanks for the experience bud

Thank you for your very kind words!

(+1)

Downloaded the Restrung version and wow. I'm definitely biased because I could listen to violin all day and walking around a dark abandoned cemetary is basically my ideal first date, but I loved this. I wasn't expecting the ghosts to be so diverse either! I only wish it were longer <3

So glad you liked it and thanks for sharing! Couldn't agree more, my girlfriend and I are having our Halloween date seeing some cathedrals and graveyards and it's nice to know we're not the only weirdos out that that do this! XD There's a longer version of this in the works, but I'm sidetracked with another project right now.

(+1)

omg yes! kindred spirits ~~ i'm so pumped to hear there will be a full version! i honestly wasn't expecting that. i feel like (especially on itch) gems like this are doomed to be small forever😭  lol but im also really excited to see what else you've got brewing... 👀

(1 edit) (+1)

I was absolutely speechless during most of this game... the environment and music were so eerie yet beautiful! I am no one special but I did play your game and just wanted you to know I loved it and you did such a wonderful job creating this.. would love to see more of your work!

Thank you so much for playing and sharing your video! It's really great to see people appreciate the beautiful side of horror. If you liked that then I'd also recommend my game Daemonologie - it's a 2D folk horror about the witch trials in Scotland and great for streamers as it encourages you to talk through your thoughts about the characters and who you trust.

(+1)

That sounds wonderful.. I will definitely check that out! Thank you💜

(+1)

Beautiful and haunting, and shows that horror needn't be visceral or startling to be effective.

(+1)

Loved the atmosphere and overall visual design. Also liked the idea of going around and playing music. And music is beautiful! I recorded a playthrough in Russian language.

(+1)

I saw Alpha Beta Gamer play this, i really liked it ! Amazing work!

(+1)

A little horror gem. I played the normal version and it is graphically satisfying as it gives a nice atmosphere. The gameplay is original but also very basic. The music and sounds though are AMAZING.

As someone already mentioned it would have been nicer to have a main menu with some settings but I understand that creating it takes too much time for a Jam.

Hope to see more of your creations soon!

Had a lot of fun with this! It was very charming and definitely had my nerves going at times, especially in the abandoned ward with all the chairs hahah- And the music was lovely! Wonderful game~ <:

(+1)

the music was so sick :)

(+1)

This was fucking amazing! The model and environment work was outstanding! Loved the concept!

(+1)

Ha, thanks very much!

(+1)

The gothic aesthetic is so satisfying! I appreciated the variety of creative environments and ghosts. And having such an easy lighting control option. The violin sounded pretty good in my opinion! I'm curious if it's a VST instrument and if so which one? Thanks for sharing the music on YouTube too, so we can enjoy it outside of the game.

(+1)

Thanks very much! The violin is a VST instrument as I can't handle playing real stringed instruments without frets XD. It's Spitfire Solo Violin. I have the Cello as well and they are both fantastic sounding and very easy to play, switching between longs, shorts, trem and legato notes depending on how you press on the keys instead of clunky keyswitches.

Um, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It is using the new Lumen GI, which as far as I understand is a software combination of raytraced and screenspace dynamic GI, but not using Nvidia RTX raytracing hardware so you don't require an RTX card to run it.

(+1)

Oh, I loved this, the smooth gameplay was very immersive, the visuals drop dead gorgeous and I love love love the ending. Honestly, my only criticism would be that I could not spend more time in this little world that you created, I have so many questions!

(+1)

Excellent short and sweet game that really gives a unique feeling surrounding the dead with excellent music and terrific visuals!

(+1)

This was a really beautiful game. I thought the whole concept of serenading souls to the afterlife was very unique. However, I do wish there were a story of some sort or at least a reason why you are making this last symphony. I thought the monster design were very colorful. I played the Restrung version in the video, which I think looks the best. I hope that you will expand on this game and add maybe a survival aspect or any other game mechanic to really boost the experience.
(+1)

Such a cool experience! I got a little spooked when I stopped playing my violin lol.

(+1)

Hey! I did a big roundup on a bunch of games in the jam (including yours) with some thoughts on each. Figured I'd share it here for anyone interested!

This looks amazing! Any chance for a MacOS port in the future? In any case.. congratulations for being able to make this!

Thanks! Unfortunately not, I would have to buy a Mac just to be able to compile the game for Mac OS since that can't be done on a Windows machine.

I don't have quite the elegant praise as most people in these comments do, but this game was very enchanting and intriguing. I guess I made those souls pretty mad though. Great game, 8/10.

This game is incredible. Thanks for creating it. I love these PSX style games and this one's atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I look forward to seeing whatever you make next

(+1)

Very straight to the point. This is a welcome addition to the world of horror games and is a testament to how lovely and romantic gothic horror tales can be. The lighting is just right in the default game, enough for the player to see and move about while still maintaining the gloomy ambience. Nice colour scheme for the lighting too! The reward at the end of the game is also very satisfying. I found it rather inspiring.

(+1)

man, i thought that it was a relaxing game until the end...

(1 edit)

A really interesting idea. The melody of the violin was just wonderful and the idea of using it as a kind of soul catcher was really ingenious. It's hard to do something today that hasn't been done a hundred times before. But here it succeeded. Unfortunately, I can't give it more stars because the game is simply not extensive enough and the graphics aren't exactly the best. But there is a lot of potential in the idea and you could make a wonderful game out of it. Add a few puzzles, a few render sequences and a few more eerie moments and it would be great.

(+1)

I loved this game, such unique ambience! Not an overly complicated premise but wonderfully executed, the concept of a ghostly orchestra is just amazing. (Also, not sure if you composed the symphony yourself, but if so, excellent job!) I only wish it was longer!

(+2)

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! I did write the music and I have a link in the description above with the full song if you are interested in listening to it. I have to keep the mechanics simple or I never finish anything XD but I do have a few ideas on how I can expand the concept and the mechanics into a fuller experience, so you may see that in the future.

(+2)

This game was very different and the tension was almost always there. I'm not exactly sure what happened at the end but the overall game was interesting. I loved the environments and the different spirit characters.

(+1)

This was such a unique experience! The game was phenomenal. My only complaint: Don't make the escape key just exit the game with no warning. I wanted to see if there were any settings so I tried pressing escape and I got kicked out all the way out.

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! I completely agree about the confirmation to quit, it's a bad habit of mine to skip that in jam games because it seems like it should be simple but there is actually quite a lot of work. You have to implement UI, mouse pointer control and handle pausing, which is very difficult when I have so many synced audio files playing. I'll try and make sure I include it in future projects as I understand how frustrating it is when you have to start again.

The sound design in this was absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed listening to it (especially, the part where it picked up in the church). Honestly,  I can't praise the music enough! The game concept and execution was really cool as well. Such an awesome and unique experience. Game starts at (42:15).
(+1)

This is honestly one of the prettiest sounding horror games I've ever played and I loved it!

I didn't play the detuned edition for the video but I will definitely be playing it for myself soon! 😁

Hey thanks for playing! Glad you appreciated the reverb change as you walk into the church, I created that effect with reverb samples I recorded in a church here in Edinburgh, such georgous accoustics!

Hope you enjoy the detuned edition too. :)

This was such a fresh and unique game! I was enthralled the entire time and loved every minute of it! The music was wonderful, the ghost's design were great and creepy, and the setting was so fitting! Loved it all, great job!

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!

No problem and of course!!
